Care Card

A practical care card for fabric lightboxes used in South African retail, mall, and exhibition spaces.

How Care Card helps on a working week

Care Card sets out the basics for looking after fabric lightboxes in retail stores, malls, and exhibition spaces. It covers routine cleaning, safe handling of fabric graphics, and what to check when a frame, LED run, or printed skin needs attention.

A Care Card should note the frame style, fabric graphic size, power feed location, and any access limits at the site. Retail passages, mall trading hours, and expo build rules all change how a lightbox is cleaned or opened. South African conditions such as inland dust, coastal humidity, and power interruptions should be recorded from the start.

Take clear photos before any panel is removed or a fabric skin is pulled from the silicone edge. That visual record helps store teams refit graphics the right way round and spot missing covers, marked profiles, or uneven illumination. Keep the card near the display file or with the maintenance notes for that branch.

Checks kept with each frame

The Care Card gives staff a usable reference for routine wiping, fabric handling, and fault spotting on site. It should identify what to inspect first when a print looks loose, an LED section appears dim, or a frame corner has shifted. Short notes linked to one display are more useful than broad instructions that do not match the actual unit.

Use the Care Card alongside install photos and service notes when a retail lightbox needs attention. Before sending details through the contact form, check the frame size, print code, and visible issue so the report matches the correct unit. Include images of any damaged fabric edge, dark LED area, or bent extrusion.

  • Cleaning notes for each display size
  • Photo record before fabric removal
  • Site issue logged against one frame

Conditions affecting retail lightboxes

Mall sites often have fixed trading windows, limited ladder access, and back-of-house rules that affect basic maintenance. A Care Card should also capture whether the unit is wall mounted, free standing, or suspended above a passage. That makes it easier to plan safe handling when graphics are changed or LED strips are inspected.

Coastal stores may need more frequent checks for moisture effects around power components and metal sections. Highveld dust can build up on frame edges, diffusers, and fabric faces, especially near entrances or loading areas. During load-shedding periods, illumination faults should be checked again once stable power is restored.

What to record on arrival

Send your Care Card with clear site photos, install dates, and notes on damaged prints, dim LEDs, or frame issues already picked up. Use an email subject that names the site, frame size, or care issue.

Write down the install date, branch name, frame dimensions, and any access equipment used at the first fitment. Add notes on print tension, cable routing, transformer position, and any damage seen during handover. Those details help when the same lightbox is serviced, moved, or re-skinned later.
