Dust Wipes

A practical note on wiping frames, diffusers and fabrics before packing for site delivery or collection.

Even a well-made frame can look poor if dust lands on the fabric, inside the profile or on the diffuser before packing. Dust Wipes is our note on the final clean before a lightbox leaves for retail, showroom or expo use.

Dust shows fastest on backlit fabric, especially after packing, loading and a last workshop move. Wipe down aluminium profiles, diffusers and printed skins just before dispatch or collection.

Final wipe points on LED frames

  • Corners, grooves and mitres checked
  • Diffuser face wiped under bright light
  • Packed print kept separate from hardware
  • Carton marked for retail or expo site

Dust Wipes sits at the end of production, not at artwork stage. It applies once the frame is built, the print is finished, and the lightbox is nearly ready to leave the workshop.

How Dust Wipes fit fabric face changes on LED frames

Dust Wipes covers the final clean before a frame leaves for site or waits for collection. Frames, diffusers, and fabric prints should be wiped carefully so the lightbox arrives looking ready to install, not fresh from the workshop.

Johannesburg dust gets into profile channels quickly, while coastal air can leave marks if surfaces are handled with damp or dirty cloths. For that reason, the wipe method changes between fabric, acrylic diffuser and powder-coated frame sections. A clean bench and clean hands matter as much as the cloth used.

Before packing, we look at the lit face and the unlit face because dust can hide until the LEDs are on. One stray fibre inside the frame can show as a dark speck on site. That is why the final clean happens after assembly checks, not before.

What leaves the workshop cleaner

The aim is a lightbox that opens on site without workshop residue on the fabric edge, inside lip or diffuser panel. Retail teams and expo crews should be fitting graphics, not wiping away sawdust, fingerprints or packing fluff. A short clean routine before dispatch saves awkward marks under illumination later.

Use Dust Wipes with the matching install and handling notes when a frame is being sent by courier or moved between branches. Check hanging parts, power leads, frame sections and each folded or rolled print after the wipe-down is done.

  • Profiles free of packing dust
  • Fabric face checked under LEDs
  • Collection set packed by frame type

Workshop dust and site conditions

A frame headed for a mall shopfit, showroom refresh or expo stand does not stay clean on its own after assembly. Sunnyrock handling, courier transfers and stand build-ups all introduce dust again if items are left uncovered. Older centres and busy loading zones also add grime to cartons before goods even reach the display area.

Inland sites often need extra attention on black frame finishes because powder and lint show immediately under store lighting. Durban and Cape Town jobs can bring moisture into the mix, so wiping cloths must be dry and non-marking. During load-shedding, final visual checks are better done once the lightbox can be powered and viewed evenly.

Packing checks after wiping

A practical note on wiping frames, diffusers and fabrics before packing for site delivery or collection.

Once the clean is done, fabric graphics should be bagged or wrapped so the wipe-down is not undone in transit. Diffusers need protection from rubbing marks, and frame sections should be packed so internal channels do not collect fresh debris. Keep this note with the job record when the lightbox is booked for delivery or collection.
