Light notes
Demo Day

A quick note on demo day setups, from powering the frame to fitting the printed fabric skin neatly.
A demo frame settles questions quickly when a client wants to compare brightness, fabric finish, frame depth or assembly method. Demo Day is our note on using samples and test units to make a lightbox decision easier.
Demo Day is where a sample frame answers the small technical questions before a retail rollout or expo build. We use it to check light output, fabric fit, cable routing and the look of the print under LEDs in local conditions.
Bench checks before the sample lights
- Power feed and plug type confirmed
- One lit sample photo saved from the test bench
- Print scale, frame depth or layout noted clearly
- Store, mall or stand name written as used onsite
After this note, compare it with the relevant frame and application pages. Demo Day covers the trial setup, not every product option. The technical pages carry the detailed sizes, profiles and mounting approaches.
How Demo Day runs on an expo stand lightbox build
Demo Day focuses on getting a lightbox ready to show properly before the full job goes live. That usually means checking the power, assembling the frame correctly, and fitting the printed fabric skin without puckering or slack edges.
Begin with the display size, frame style, power location and whether the unit is wall mounted, freestanding or suspended. Johannesburg dust, Durban humidity and venue power access can each change how a demo is prepared. In retail and exhibition work, a lit sample often settles more than another artwork mock-up.
Take the first reference photo before fabric goes into the silicone edge channel. That image helps later when the team needs to match orientation, cable exit position or print alignment. It is especially useful when a unit is packed down after a stand trial and rebuilt at the venue.
What the sample day clarifies
A proper demo leaves you with one workable build direction for the site. That usually includes the tested frame depth, confirmed fabric finish and a simple note on assembly order. For malls and expo stands, clarity on those points matters more than comparing too many variations in a meeting room.
Use Demo Day alongside the matching install note and another Light notes entry when you need the wider picture. Before anything is packed for dispatch, recheck frame sections, connectors, printed skin and the power kit. Through our contact form, say which frame you want to see on demo day.
- Test setup matched to the actual display type
- Lit trial recorded before pack-down begins
- Contact details kept with the job file
Conditions that affect a lighting trial
Demo units are often prepared around venue access times, freight bookings and trading restrictions at shopping centres. Some jobs start with existing aluminium profiles, old prints or power points that cannot be moved easily. On exhibition work, it also helps to separate the trial unit from the full stand build so nothing gets mixed during packing.
At the coast, moisture can influence how prints are handled and stored before fitting. Inland sites bring more dust onto frame channels and diffusers during assembly. Load-shedding and venue generator schedules can also affect when brightness is assessed properly on an illuminated display.

Notes to capture on Demo Day
A quick note on demo day setups, from powering the frame to fitting the printed fabric skin neatly.
Write down the frame size, print code, transformer detail and any assembly point that slowed the trial. Add hanging information if the sample relates to a suspended unit for an expo stand or atrium display. Those notes make the full production run easier to check when the buyer or installer asks for the exact tested setup.
