SEG profile and fabric fit

The SEG Frame specs page sets out the frame profile, graphic fit and build details for silicone edge fabric systems. It is useful when a project needs accurate production information before print and assembly begin.

The profile depth, corner construction and silicone edge fit used on SEG frame builds must be recorded accurately. Use it when artwork size, extrusion choice and fixing method need to be checked before print goes to production. Retail walls, freestanding lightboxes and hanging displays each need different allowances at the frame edge.

Graphic tension depends on accurate cut size and consistent sewing of the silicone edge. Before assembly, check visible face size, finished fabric dimensions and how the print will sit once pressed into the channel. One wrong measurement at this stage can leave slack fabric or stress at the corners.

Build checks before print release

Confirm the frame width, intended orientation and whether the unit is single sided or double sided. Power feed position, wall condition and access at the site should be noted on the same job record. For expo use, also verify packed lengths if the frame must travel through courier networks or venue loading bays.

Where existing units are being re-skinned, compare the old extrusion groove with the new fabric bead before ordering replacement graphics. Record any site limits such as mall trading access, low ceiling clearances or damp coastal storage areas that can affect handling.

Retail and expo site conditions

Johannesburg sites often need dust control during fitting, especially where open shopfront work is happening nearby. In Durban and Cape Town, moisture during storage and transport can affect packed fabric graphics if they are not kept dry and sealed properly. These factors matter when specifying packing, cleaning and assembly checks.

Mall installations usually require measured access routes, approved working hours and a clear plan for cable positions on illuminated units. Exhibition halls add rigging limits, stand boundaries and stricter timing around move-in. The spec sheet should reflect those conditions before the frame is cut or the fabric is printed.

Measurements that must be supplied

Provide finished frame size, visible graphic area and any joins if the run is too large for one fabric skin. Include whether the frame mounts to a wall, stands on feet or suspends from above.

Add photos of the location, note existing power points and mark anything that may obstruct assembly on site. Keep the spec sheet with the project record so print, fabrication and installation teams work from the same dimensions.
