Double Sided specs

Frame depth and viewing sides

Double Sided specs lists the frame depth, lighting layout, graphic finish, and hanging or mounting requirements for two-sided displays. It is the practical reference for teams planning a lightbox that has to work equally well from both sides.

Double sided lightboxes need a spec that covers both faces, not just the print size. Note the aluminium profile depth, LED position, silicone edge graphic finish, and whether the unit is suspended, ceiling fixed, or mounted to a stand wall. In retail passages and expo aisles, even illumination from each side matters because people approach from opposite directions.

Note the hanging point or mounting area before finalising the sheet. Ceiling height, sprinkler lines, bulkheads, and nearby signage can change cable lengths and access requirements. For units going into malls or exhibition halls, record the available power location so the driver and wiring route are planned correctly.

What the spec sheet covers

Technical details for a two sided fabric frame start with the overall size, visible graphic area, frame finish, LED configuration, and fixing method needed on site. Where graphics are viewed close up, tension and edge finishing need to be checked carefully on both prints.

Before sending production details, match the double sided frame size to the venue rules and the packing method for transport. Confirm whether the unit breaks down for courier delivery or travels as longer assembled sections.

  • Frame depth noted for both faces
  • Power feed position marked clearly
  • Hanging method listed with fixings

Venue conditions that affect layout

Large double sided units for malls and expo stands must be checked against access lifts, loading bays, and ceiling restrictions. Some sites around Johannesburg and Pretoria allow generous hanging positions, while older centres may limit anchor points or working hours. If the frame is going into a temporary stand, the stand builder's structure must carry the load safely.

Coastal air in Durban and Cape Town can influence cleaning schedules for aluminium profiles and printed fabric. Inland dust around Gauteng can collect on top edges and around cable exits, especially on suspended units. During load-shedding planning, allow for a proper illumination check when full power is available at the venue.

Information needed before approval

Send the intended size, orientation, and whether the frame is visible from long range or close viewing distance. Add ceiling height, suspension points, and any restriction from the mall or exhibition organiser. If this replaces an existing unit, mention what the current frame depth and lighting arrangement are.

Record the final drawing with cable drop positions, driver access, and graphic finishing notes for each face. Keep the double sided spec with the project file so installers, printers, and venue teams work from the same information. That reduces confusion when graphics are reprinted for later campaigns or moved to another site.
